Hertfordshire Cricket

The current and rapidly changing government restrictions have made planning for the winter very difficult but with the help of the ECB we have devised a structure that we feel should help develop each player, keep them engaged in cricket and develop further their enjoyment of the game.

Charley Cricket is the start of the Hertfordshire Performance Pathway. This means we organise the players into groups taking into account their ability rather than purely on their age. Thus, allowing them to develop at the rate that suits them best and grows confidence.

The programme is for children aged U10-U12 (school years 5, 6 and 7) and is a hard ball programme so players need to be comfortable with the hard ball and have all their own equipment.

As in previous years we will monitor the progress of all players over the course of the winter to ensure that players are in the group best suited to aid their development and will contact parents should we wish to move your child to a different group at the same venue.

September – October 2020 – Outdoors on Astro-Turf – 4 weeks

All sessions last 55 minutes to allow for social distancing between groups

• Thursday -- 17:50-19:50 -- Cotlandswick Leisure Centre, London Colney
• Friday -- 19:00-20:00 -- Hertfordshire Sports Village, University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield
• Sunday -- 11:30-13:30 -- Rickmansworth School, Rickmansworth

October – December 2020 – Indoors Sports Hall Planned venues – note we are still in discussions with schools with regards to bookings. Times to be confirmed.

• Wednesday - Stanborough School, Welwyn Garden City
• Wednesday - Stanborough School, Welwyn Garden City (girls only session)
• Thursday - Verulam School, St Albans

Price: £140 includes £20 HCCA Membership for 2020/21

We hope to be able to continue with the programme in January as per normal but due to the uncertainty with Covid-19 restrictions we are only planning to December at this time. Should we be able to go ahead there will be a further charge for this term.

Please note that the outdoor sessions form part of the winter programme and if indoor numbers are limited by ECB guidelines priority will be given to those who have taken part outdoors.
