Dear All
This week's bulletin contains information on the updated Covid-19 Guidance for Wales, #RedForRuth 2021 Club Challenge, Lifebuoy Hygiene Posters, and a Spotlight on Cowgate CC.
We are pleased to announce the latest guidance for recreational cricket in Wales, permissible from 17th July. This document outlines guidance for clubs and participants with the Welsh Government confirming the move to Alert Level 1. Please click here for the latest guidance.
As we communicated last week, the Ruth Strauss Foundation is delighted to that cricket is turning red again, with LV= Insurance dedicating the second Test Match of the ENG-IND series to the Foundation. Day two of the Test, Friday 13 August, will be our annual #RedforRuth day.
We are calling all cricket clubs, communities and friends to go red in any way, shape or form in the lead up to, and on Friday 13 August.
This year’s #RedforRuth Club Challenge will see two clubs join Sir Andrew and a surprise bowler at Lord’s for a coaching session and more – so get involved!
How to enter? Simple! Register on www.ruthstraussfoundation.com/club-challenge, and post something very red on social media tagging @RuthStraussFdn + #RedforRuth.
The redder the better! Let’s help families facing grief by raising awareness and funds while having some fun along the way!
Here are some of the ways in which you can help:
Let your local radio, papers and community mags know about your event and ask them to support the cause.
As we move into Step 4 of the Government Roadmap from 19th July, we want to ensure cricket continues to plays its part in ensuring the safe opening up of society. To help support this our new Community Cricket Hygiene Partner, Lifebuoy, have produced a range of posters promoting good hand hygiene which you can simply download for your club.

Cowgate Cricket Club operate in the West End of Newcastle upon Tyne and have embraced the ECB national programmes as a way of introducing new junior members to the club. In a football mad city, they share their site with local football clubs and have created a real hub for cricket during this summer.
The club have always had dedicated volunteers who have now trained as coaches and activators. With the support of Northumberland Cricket Board a number of local schools were targeted for engagement sessions,as well as successfully applying for funding through the LV Funds for Runs programme. The club then marketed their All Stars and Dynamos Cricket programmes via social media and found a real appetite for junior cricket within the community.
Numbers have been unprecedented, from a situation where the club were initially looking at just double figures they were able to attract a total of 96 registrations, 46 for All Stars Cricket and 50 for Dynamos Cricket, with 70 of these places were allocated through the LV Funds for Runs programme.
