HDCA End of Season Report 2014-15
Herts Disabled Cricket has had an excellent season by winning the ECB’s London & South East group, in the process winning all of their games. Despite that, the overall way in which the cricket has been played is something that the board and the whole of the county should be proud of.
This approach has been noticed at the top level by the ECB and in particular Ken Kelly, the head of Inclusion and Diversity Manger. He mentions in an email to all of the counties within the group, and gave praise to Hertfordshire Disabled Cricket, “The games were an example of just what can be achieved and with the approach adopted by your counties mean, the future of the game is in safe hands.”
This is a massive boost to everyone involved. Praise should also be passed on to the members of the board and its staff, who have helped us this season and I must not forget a huge thank you to you all for all of the hard work and efforts during this campaign.
At the end of the 2013 season HDC had only twenty participants. At the end of June 2014 numbers have grown significantly so, that we are approaching nearly four hundred participants in the first year of the five year programme.
The ethos and the style in which the team employs have meant that the integration of five new players has been seamless. These new players, are a direct result of the work we have done as part of the community Hub’s development programme.
HDCA in association with the county board has been working with day care centres and other community groups across the county to engage with people and deliver cricket to a vast audience. We have been able to engage with the local communities and therefore increase participation numbers.
