6T's Rapid Fire holds its 1st School Games Final.....
Following on from a successful pilot project in 2015-2016, 6T's Rapid Fire was included in the Hertfordshire School Games Programme in 2016-2017.
8 Schools Games Partnerships held local festivals during December through to March, which resulted in 8 schools winning through to represent their partnership in the County Finals on 15th March at Sir Frederic Osborn School Sports Centre.
Whitehill (North Herts SSP), Hertingfordbury (Hertford & Ware SSP), Lodge Farm (Stevenage SFT), Albury (Birchwood SSP), Tanners Wood (Three Rivers SSP), Green Lanes (Welwyn & Hatfield SSP), Crabtree (Harpenden SSP) and Millfield (North East Herts SSP) qualified from their local partnership festivals. 6T's Rapid Fire is a competition for years 3 & 4, which is based around a number of different skills including striking, fielding, team work, communication and numeracy.
Each school played three games in the group stages and then the top two schools in each pool went through to the semi finals.
Whitehill, Hertingfordbury, Lodge Farm and Tanners Wood won through to the semi finals, with Hertingfordbury and Tanners Wood advancing to the final.
In a closely fought contest, Hertingfordbury (pictured above) were crowned champions, winning the final buy 3 runs.
A huge thank you to all the schools that took part in the event this year, special thanks to Sir Frederic Osborn School PE Department and Sports Centre Staff for hosting us and finally to the SGO's, Sports Leaders and PE Apprentices from Sporting Futures Training for supporting the whole competition this year.
