.
Over a dozen Young Asian girls participated in the FREE Cricket Taster Session at Verulam School, which was held in partnership with Hertfordshire Cricket, The Adda Club, Al Bayyinah, 20th St Albans Ansar Scouts, and HAWA Multicultural Services.
The taster session is designed to introduce young girls from the South Asian and Muslim communities in St Albans and Hertfordshire to cricket as an alternative way to get regular physical activity. It supports healthy lifestyles, mental well-being, and valuable life skills like teamwork and resilience.
The attendees took part in team games, and warm-up exercises and learned the basics of cricket.
The Organisers The Adda club, hope to make this a regular activity for young girls within the Bengali and South Asian communities. The Session was led by Herts County Cricket, who provided the all-female coaches. This taster session was perfect for girls of all skill levels, even those who’ve never played before.
